For
some snorkelling action you could take
a trip in one of the typically open fishing boats
that offer excursions from every beach in the region.
Half and full-day excursions bring you to quiet,
pristine snorkelling areas and beautiful, secluded
beaches and islands.
Some
of these tours are operated on a private
basis and therefore guarantee a day that runs at
your pace. These trips are perfect for couples,
families or small groups as parts of the day can
be customised to suit your needs.
Koh
Chang Marine National Park offers some
of the most delightful diving and snorkelling sites.
The best sites are on the west and south of Chang
Island where the abundance of healthy and unspoilt
corals and the great diversity of fish are the main
draw.
A
lunch box can be arranged by the boat owner
and you can really enjoy the refreshing crystal
clear waters of these magnificent islands as you
marvel at the marine ecology of the area.
Off
the west coast of Chang Island is a small
group of islands within view from Khlong Prao and
Kai Bae beaches. These include Yuak Island which
has a small beachfront of sand formed from decayed
corals. The water is clear and shallow qualifying
it a good snorkeling spot.
Next
to Yuak Island are Plee and Suwan Island,
both of which have rocky shores. Around the area
of Suwan Island is another isle which harbours colourful
corals in 6 metres depth. As it is home to to an
outstanding beautiful big tree, the locals call
it "Koh Rom" what means Umbrella Island.
Further
down south is Man Nai Island which is directly
facing the shores of Kai Bae Beach. During low tide,
the water is so shallow that it is possible to walk
from the island to Seaview Resort that is located
south of Kai Bae Beach.
Another
island called Man Nok Island looks as if
it's behind Suwan Island. It is the twin island
to Man Nai Island and is linked together by shallow
waters with gold-coloured seaweed.
